Patricia Anne Marron

Wife, mother, educator and artist Patricia Anne Marron died peacefully, surrounded by family and in her home on November 3, 2021. Born to Earl and Evelyn Segle in 1931 and raised in southern West Virginia, Pat was an accomplished student, dancer, and drum majorette at Mullens High School. Attending Concord College in Athens, West Virginia and studying to become an educator, she met the love of her life, George Marron, who was attending school on the GI Bill. Soon after graduating and marrying, the young couple would move to sunny Miami, where, over the next fifty years, they would raise two children, teach, coach and influence countless young people and become a beloved part of the South Miami community. As the dance teacher at Miami Palmetto Senior High School, Pat established a course curriculum still in use today in Miami Dade County-and her dance team-the Chatonettes-were regularly featured in Orange Bowl halftime shows and parades. Like many of their fellow retired educators, Pat and George relocated to Gainesville more than twenty years ago and quickly became an integral part of this community. Pat was a beloved member of the Holy Faith Catholic Church, as well as the Elks and Eagles Clubs. Known for her quick wit and caring nature, Pat was an adored mentor to a generation of kids growing up in Miami in the 60's and 70's-many of whom went on to pursue careers in education. She is preceded in death by her husband George, and her mother and father. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Boswell of Boca Raton, FL, her son Stephen Marron of Zephyrhills, FL, her granddaughter Maggie Marron Boswell of Boca Raton, FL, her son-in-law Christian Boswell of Boca Raton, FL, her daughter-in-law Clara Marron of Zephyrhills, FL and Jim Mikel of Gainesville, FL, her longtime friend, companion and life partner. Services will be held in Gainesville, beginning with a viewing from 6:00 to 7:00pm Friday, November 12th at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Avenue. A celebration of Pat's life, along with a Mass Service, will be held at noon on Saturday, November 13th at Holy Faith Catholic Church, 747 NW 43rd Street, with internment to follow at Forest Meadows Memorial Park-Central, 4100 NW 39th Avenue.
